Falcon launch, and Lynxie turning 18
Mar. 8th, 2020 03:30 pmOn Friday there was a nighttime Falcon 9 launch, and I learned of it about five minutes before the fact. I figured, why not look out the window, as it was north-facing and who knows! It might be visible. It was an incredibly clear night all across Florida.
Holy shit, was it visible. Not only was the rocket's light CLEARLY visible as it rose above the surrounding terrain, but it was bright and you could make out the plume! I followed it up into the sky and then the light went out, only for it to come back moments later. Staging! I could see BOTH stages moving away from each other as stage 2 sped off into the darkness.
Some time later, I saw the landing burn as stage 1 slowed itself down to come in for a landing.
The entire experience was exciting and it was so cool to watch the rocket launch in person. Pili was with me and she was wowed too. It was a great surprise for an otherwise uneventful evening.
In other news, Lynxie turned 18 today. My beautiful kittycat has been with me two years short of a decade, and he's still doing great. I adore him so much and hope he makes it to 20 and beyond!
